Keep Amaryllis Blooming All Winter Long

Amaryllis flowers are in for the long haul! Start filling your home with Amaryllis plants for the holidays, and keep the blossoms coming all winter long.

Did you know that if you plant a variety of amaryllis bulbs — from both the southern and northern hemisphere — you can be sure to get a long-lasting bloom that will enhance your surroundings (and mood) throughout the winter months?

Make sure to kick off the holidays with amaryllis bulbs that are imported from growers in Peru, like those from Bloomaker. As we enter autumn here in America, it’s springtime in South America, and this variety of bulbs is eager to start blooming. Buy them now for flowers in December and January. You can find our amaryllis bulbs in Costco and various local stores. Check out our find us page for more information and call ahead to see if they carry Bloomaker!

If you want to bloom more Amaryllis plants afterward, you can replant our bulbs for next season or try to find another variety of amaryllis bulbs from the northern hemisphere. The northern hemisphere Amaryllis bulbs that are sold in the U.S. are typically imported from the Netherlands (which is where we source our Tulips), and their natural bloom time is later in the winter from January through March.

Exactly when these flowers will open is hard to predict, but for blooms all winter long, the best strategy is to choose several different varieties and plant them 3 to 4 weeks apart during November, December and January. This way you will always have flowers around.
